Twin sister of one Xavierre Chatelain, Maylis is his opposite in just about every conceivable way. Where he would run, she will fight; where his attention is driven to the arts, hers is to society at large. Both of them, however, have a penchant for magecraft and their hearts in the right place. She strives for a better Ishgard, even at the cost of her humanity.Anyone well-acquainted with the lower sects of Ishgardian society would know of her people from the Scarlet Frost, a secret circle of Red Mages who use another variety of red magic - the Ishgardian cousin of the more widely known Ala Mhigan Red. Be they heretics or Brumites with magical capabilities, the Scarlet Frost welcomes all who are willing to learn and fight for a better Ishgard under her guidance.Topside, she's spoken of as the well-acquainted daughter of House Chatelain, an absolute darling at parties and as feared by men as she is coveted. She speaks with a silver tongue, sharp as it is beautiful. Her figure is bold and unmistakable, and she frequently sports the work of her brother, his masterful craftsmanship on display with her as his canvas. She's also spoken of somewhat warmly in the Brume as a noble who puts her back into supporting them, as the expression goes. Together with her mother (and with somewhat regular aid from her girlfriend), Maylis runs a free, public-access library that offers a warm shelter from the cold and lessons in literacy and penmanship. Those who wish to repay them are often asked simply to aid in the upkeep of the building and their collection.
Hooks
None of these sound good? Throw me a hook of your own and we can work something out!
Party animal - Do you frequent the high society's frivolous parties? Are you a frequent figure in the numerous balls held by Ishgard's wealthy? Maybe you've met this elusive woman, and you crave to know her more.
Secret sects - Looking to pick up this age-old breed of red magic? In need of a way to fight without having to get your hands all that dirty? Take care as you track down her secretive circle of magecraft.
Heretical happenings - Are you a fellow heretic, looking to reconnect with a compatriot? In need of some information from the high society of these cold halls? Maylis is your woman - you just have to find her.
Curious curator - The middle third of the three-woman team behind the Lillium Library, Maylis is both a teacher and a librarian within its halls. Perhaps you're a former student, in search of a specific tome, or Fury forbid, holder of an overdue book.
Out-of-Character
Hey there, name's Lyon! I'm 21, and my pronouns are he/they. I've been doing text-based roleplay on and off for the past seven or eight years, and roleplaying in FFXIV for about the past three. Single-paragraph style is a comfort zone for me, and trying to go longer than that tends to be a serious detriment to my turn speed. (For reference, my average in-game turn runs the gamut between one and three posts, typically no more than two.) I won't hold anything against you if all you can manage is a one-liner every now and then, though I ask that it's at least suitable enough to keep the scenario going.
I can't believe this has to be said, but I'm saying it now so it's not a problem later. Please do not stream or video record in-game roleplay with my character without my express permission. The whole practice makes me incredibly uncomfortable, and if I'm made aware that you're streaming or otherwise recording our interactions beyond screenshots or text logging, I will leave and you will be blacklisted.
I'm not my characters. Any romance between her and your character is to remain strictly in-character. Likewise, I'd prefer we keep any in-character aggression in-character.
Please do not approach me for casual ERP, I don't have qualms with fade to black skipping, but she isn't one for casual sex with total strangers, despite her line of work.
I know it's kind of a given, but please don't attempt to seriously injure or kill off my characters without consulting me first. I do like scars though. Still ask me about that please!
If this is important to you at all, Maylis is an alt. She's based on Mateus, but I'm willing to travel. In need of more screencaps? Go check out Maylis's Refsheet or Toyhouse page in the footer below.
